Rice has been a staple part of the Chinese diet for ages. Southern China has an ideal climate for rice farming, with some areas even able to yield two crops each year. Terrain, however, is not as ideal but has been overcome for thousands of years. The inhabitants of the Yunnan Province in China have terraced the hills and mountains to allow for an exponential increase in arable land.
